Explore 29 New Game Cards from Magic's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Set (Featuring a Commander-Style Deck!)
The world's beloved pizza-eating superheroes are coming to the popular trading card game. The well-known TCG's publisher, Wizards of the Coast, unveiled a highly anticipated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles expansion at a special panel held at New York Comic Con. Could this be a exciting addition or simply another Universes Beyond cash grab? Let you be the judge.
Take a look below at everything revealed from the Magic x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, along with key background. Everything listed here releases on March 6, 2026, except for one item — the Pizza Bundle drops a few weeks later on March 27.
Magic x TMNT: Core Set Reveals
Before we get into the many special decks and bundles on offer, we’ll examine at all the cards from the main Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set unveiled by the developers. Play boosters for the set are set at $6.99 per pack, while Collector Boosters should run $37.99 per booster.
Let's unpack a few surprising details. To begin, a new gameplay mechanic called Sneak Attack, inspired by the already established Ninjutsu ability, in which players can play big creatures into the battlefield whenever an attacker goes unblocked. The big difference here is that this new ability can apply to spells that aren’t creatures too. Wizards also took the opportunity to clean up the ability a little (Sneak counts as casting, unlike Ninjutsu). Ninjutsu isn't going away, but chances are we'll see the new mechanic in future sets moving forward.
“If we ever go back to Kamigawa, we might use the original ability because that's where it was developed and it’s a hallmark to that,” a senior game designer stated. “However in other settings, because the rules are cleaner and Sneak is what's going to be Standard-legal, it’s probable that we'd use the updated version.”
That second variant of the leader Turtle, Sewer Samurai card, is one of four cards with special art created specifically for the set by Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles original artist the co-creator.
Additionally, if you're shocked by the rules text on Turtles Forever card, which allows playing game cards that aren't in your main deck, many players were. Yet as per Wizards, that's now a official card in all formats of Magic.
Anyway, below are the highly unusual full-art lands from the TMNT set:
As per Wizards of the Coast's current policy, all these cards are fully legal in Magic’s Standard format. Developers say they were careful to make sure the cards and mechanics meshed well with current Standard expansions like Edge of Eternities.
“I headed the development for over a year and we were aware it would be in standard and which sets would be alongside it in standard,” the designer commented. “Our goal was to ensure that there's synergy with certain expansions including Edge of Eternities.”
As an instance, each of TMNT and Edge of Eternities feature a blue-red strategy focused on artifact cards.
“They combine to offer the components for a enjoyable Standard-legal deck,” the designer added.
Commander Deck: Turtle Power!
After declining to create any pre-constructed Commander decks for the Spider-Man set and the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender collaborations, Wizards is changing direction with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. It’s only one precon, but it does come with six distinct legendary cards that can serve as your commander depending on how you combine them (five cards include a unique partner ability named “Character Select” that allows starting with two commanders in the command zone instead of just one). Check them out for yourself:
The Turtle Power precon is set at $69.99, although that could easily go up due to demand. Sources indicated that it includes 43 brand-new cards in total, which translates to an extra 37 TMNT-themed game cards besides the six legendary commanders pictured earlier. (Doing some rough math, that also means about 20 reprints if we assume the precon includes 37 land cards.)
How will the TMNT edition of the iconic Sol Ring appear? Fans must wait and find out.
Standard Bundle (Standard Edition)
Typically, Wizards is selling a bundle. This one costs $69.99 and contains the following:
- Nine Standard Boosters
- Fifteen Traditional foil land cards
- Fifteen Regular basic lands
- 2 helper cards
- 1 Foil promo card
- One Large life tracker
- One storage box
Pizza-Themed Bundle
This is a special idea for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles set, primarily because it comes in what looks like a pizza delivery box. Every Pizza Bundle costs $99.99 and includes the following:
- Nine Play Boosters
- One Premium Booster
- Twenty-five Non-foil pizza-themed lands
- 5 Traditional foil pizza-themed lands
- 2 Traditional foil pizza bundle promo cards
- Two Reference cards
- 1 Oversized spindown life counter
- One Card-storage box
If you’re wondering about the “pizza bundle promo” means, it’s essentially a reprinted older card with brand-new TMNT art. The team showed one for the well-known Magic card Dark Ritual depicting master Splinter sprinkling black licorice pieces onto a pizza. In total, there are six different Pizza Bundle promo cards in total.
This special bundle launches a couple of weeks later than the core set on March 27, 2026.
Draft Bundle
This unique product is designed for a four-person draft and is priced at $119.99. That will get you:
- Twelve Play Boosters (the perfect amount a group of four to draft)
- One Collector Booster (aka, the prize for winning)
- 90 Regular land cards (to build your deck)
- 10 Regular token cards
- 1 drafting guide (a single-page guide to drafting this expansion)
Turtle Team-Up
Lastly, Wizards are doing something new with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles as part of its ongoing effort to create Magic products specifically for beginners. In this case, Turtle Team-Up is a unique product of decks that let you and a friend team up to face a “Boss” deck that plays automatically.
The general idea here that every Boss card gives unique powers to the creature cards contained in the boss deck. Each Boss automatically plays an additional card each turn, and players begin fighting {one Boss|
