Exploring a Unusual Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Poop in a Mission to Reach the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is now live, and gamers have found plenty of interesting creations from small studios. Yet, one is particularly notable for its quirky concept. Named Unko Technica, this old-school styled side-scrolling game features a hero that is literally a dung striving to travel to a restroom. For those curious, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."
Player controls is simple: just use a single jump button. Across one hundred fifty challenges, battle mini-bosses and access a market to purchase customizations for your fecal avatar.
Time your jumps carefully, as a wrong move forces starting over. Bounce using floating orbs to propel yourself upward, navigate disappearing ledges, and touch buttons to reveal secret routes. Gather coins to purchase more difficult game content in which the action intensifies.
In terms of design, the experience features eye-catching level designs and an amazing music score. The simple visual style of moving basic polygons could recall fans of beloved games like Earthbound.
Although difficult to think of other games where you control a piece of feces, gaming have long included fecal matter. For example, in Death Stranding, you can craft grenades from character waste. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize dung as soil enrichment. Naturally, such content shows up a lot in the adventure The Stick of Truth.
Despite its silly idea, Unko Technica has already earned notable awards, such as being named best at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. A playable preview is ready currently on Steam, with the final release set to arrive on Steam this November.
